International Love Movement for
Earth-Friendly Transportation!

Love, Peace and Beautiful Bike Rides is an international love and community project that will compile over 100 dreams on film to promote Earth-Friendly transportation with a magical film, zine and graphic novel! This project originated in the Pacific Northwest. Our international sustainable transportation movement and awareness project will culminate in people all over the world simultaneously using bikes and all types of carbon-free transportation all over the world on Saturday, June 4th, 2011. Between February 22nd, 2011 and April 22nd, 2011 (the 41st anniversary of Earth Day) people will independently film just a few minutes of their dreams re-enacted that use bikes or any other carbon-free type of transportation.

This includes everything from Climbing mountains, canoeing white rapids, rowing gondolas in Venice Italy, hang-gliding over the deep blue waves of the Pacific Ocean and so much more! The filmmakers don't really have to be in those locations as these are dreams and re-enactments and no matter how comedic or fantasy filled they are... we encourage people to send them to us when finished. We are not only looking to promote love and Earth-Friendly transportation but we also want to compile videos to create an amazing film that you will greatly enjoy and share with others. Filmmakers can use their own video cameras or use video cameras that we provide for them.

We are asking people to share their most fascinating, exciting, magical dreams that involve bicycles and all forms of carbon free transportation. We are dedicated to making sure that we show a minimum of 102 different dreams, each a minute to three minutes long, from all over the world!

We will send out many, small, hand held, easy to use, high definition video cameras (like the one shown in our profile photo) all over the world to community organizations free of charge so that people of all backgrounds interested in getting involved in this project can do so. People can mail their video camera back to us with the digital film anytime between March 2nd, 2011 and April 25th, 2010. Then we can edit a community created film that promotes love, peace and using earth-friendly, transportation as a sustainable and community building form of transportation!

What will happen on June 4th, 2011?

We are asking people to independently schedule carbon-free community transportation events in their communities. We will also have the finished film of Love, Peace and Beautiful Bike Rides ready for people to organize home screenings all over the world!

During the organizing of this exciting international movement we have been creating a full length film, amazing one-of-a-kind community co-created zine (personal booklet) and a stunning graphic novel!

Filming for the first half of the film has already been finished!  We are now filming for the second half of the film!  In the second half of the film we will take submissions by writing, audio or video of people telling or re-enacting their most loving, magical, exciting or dramatic bicycle related stories. The graphic novel will also feature our special guest artists bringing their stories to life in stunning detail.

People all over the world are looking at man-made environmental disasters such as oil spills and asking what measures they can take to respond so that our world doesn't rely on oil so much.  Using bikes and promoting the use of bikes is one of those measures.  We have sent the first half of our film to film festivals and we are very proud to say that the first half of our film (work-in-progress) will premier at the Fifth Annual International Social Uprising, Resistance and Grassroots Encouragement (S.U.R.G.E.!) Film Festival in Austin, Texas in March 2011 (which takes place during the annual SXSW interactive arts event*) as part of their new and emerging interactive film projects spotlight!  SURGE is an Internet Movie Database (IMDb) Qualifying film festival which means our film will have the honor of being featured on IMDB.  Our completed film, which will be finished in April 2011, has also been guaranteed a spot at the Third Annual Love Unlimited Film Festival and Arts Exhibition which takes place in Portland, Oregon in May 2011.  The Love Unlimited Film Festival and Art Exhibition is also an Internet Movie Database (IMDb) Qualifying film festival which means our completed full length fill will being featured on IMDB.

We are now giving presentations all over the country empowering people of all ages and backgrounds to join this movement! Our Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Road Trip Film Crew Will travel down the West Coast to spread this message. An asb road trip film crew is a road trip where a group of college students (usually 10-30 per trip) engage in volunteer service, typically for a week. Alternative break trips originated with college students in the early 1980’s as a counter to "traditional" spring break trips.

We will leave Seattle and Olympia, Washington on March 19th, 2011 and travel to Santa Monica, California (stopping and filming in San Francisco and other points along the way) and arriving back in Olympia, Washington on the evening of March 26th, 2011. We will also pick up members of the ASB Road Trip Film Crew who live in Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California.  When traveling back to Olympia we will stop in a financially disadvantaged small town in rural California, one of the poorest towns in the USA, and use bikes to deliver free of charge organic food to the doors of people needing the food.

From March 19th through March 26th, 2011 the ASB Road Trip Film Crew will film portions of the Love, Peace and Beautiful Bike Rides while traveling.

The Love, Peace and Beautiful Bike Rides ASB Road Trip Film Crew has ten Components:

Love and Non-Violent Communication; Non-Discrimination; Strong Direct Service; Education; Training; Rest and Reflection; Reorientation; Diversity and Social Justice.

This is more than a film, it is a glimpse of a love-in-action movement flying and set free through film and through printed art work!  Love means many things to many people but it will always mean openness, compassion and selflessness. We will also donate copies of our film and graphic novel to at least the over 100 non-profit or community service groups and organizations that people recommend to us.  We are interested in spreading love and magic to those groups serving the elderly, the physically challenged and those who could use an extra smile. We want to take your recommendations based on the non-profit organizations that you, our backers and supporters, are involved with and recommend.

So we hope the second half of our filming and the specially selected independent artists that we choose for the soundtrack, combined, will enable the fully completed film to reward your involvement with a unique and timeless film that will bring together the magic from several of the most well known bicycle rider loving cities that we will film in:
